Scout Bake off

The Boy Scout bake off was yesterday and the theme was fantasy. I asked my son what he wanted to make and instantly he said a red dragon. I am not the best at this sort of stuff but I had the idea well maybe I can just get away with just a head if I put the dragon in a cave...it worked for Logan.

I have to give my nephew Donovan most of the credit, he shaped the head and put most of the cave together...he frosted the cave and I just put some crushed oreo cookies on it. The castle was my husbands idea we had him carve out the shape after it was in the mold. My nephew frosted the castle while Logan and I cut what seemed like hundreds of red circles and layered it on the dragon head. In the end the cake was a family affair. My favorite part beside the dragon scales was the flames coming out of the mouth. I had Logan started it, Donovan added the orange and I finished it with the yellow and red...I wanted those flames coming off the cake and we were able to do it with no problems.

This cake took us two days, but it was worth it. When my nephew walked into judging room where the scouts were hanging out, the scouts mobbed my nephew like he was a superstar. That moment and my sons happiness was the highlight of my night. So in the end we won a Gold wooden spoon for "Best Presentation" and the award that I wanted to win the Blue painted spoon "Scout's Choice". You can see Logan below and how proud he is holding the spoons.

Now, if I could just get this red dye off my hands, I could put this cake behind me LOL.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Melanie's Birthday Card

I haven't done any scrapping in a while but I knew my friend Melanie would want a handmade birthday card that was meant just for her. It took me a little while but here is what I came up with. Melanie is a huge Mets fan therefore I took this image of Sophia and wrote in "Mets" on the teddy bear and used the Mets colors of Blue and Orange. I punched out the space for a sentiment using SU's horizontal punch and the Birthday wishes stamp is GinaK Punchy words, which was a gift from Heather.

I gave Melanie the card today, she loved it. Happy Birthday Melanie!!!!

Altered Starbucks Bottle

My sister asked me to put together an idea for favors for her son's graduation party. So I decided to alter a starbucks bottle. His school colors are Red and Black and although the bottle isn't complete I wanted to put it on my blog. The finishing touches will be added at my sisters this weekend. We plan on putting a small tag with the words "thank you" and attaching it to the silver thread and filling the bottle with kisses. My sister loved the idea so now the hard part is getting 28 bottles. She has 6 and I have 10. Let the drink-feast begin, we still need 12 bottles.

Tigger page

I have a ton of pictures that need to make their way into my scrapbook and I also have a bunch of pages that I swapped at one time or another. Some pages I have taken apart and some I really like. This is one that I really like, although all the designs are stickers (which I rarely use), I just don't mind because it's such a fun looking page and my son really like it. This page was made by my sister Helena...it was the first time she participated in a swap and was constantly on the phone to me asking all kinds of questions, sending me photos LOL. She did great and I am glad I was finally able to use her page.

I have many more swapped pages in holders and I look forward to using them more to get my pictures in the scrapbook and I also look forward to sharing them with you. As always, thanks for stopping by, have a great night.

Me

I didn't have anything to show for this weekend. My son and I were a bit under the weather on Saturday and today was beautiful, so I planted my garden and all my flowers. Took me 3 hours but it's worth it. In June and July I am in my glory
with all the flowers surrounding me on the patio.
I made this page for ASB, the topic was "Me". I am glad I did it, I would not normally do something like this and I am glad I finally did it. I now plan on doing one of my husband and adding it to Logan's Scrapbook. The beading was by accident, I made the holes, then didn't like them so I decided to stitch the holes, I didn't like that too much and decided to brighten up the page by adding the beads. When I finished one circle of beads I looked at the page and thought....it looks a little like a halo, so I added the second set, didn't want anyone to think I was implying I was an angel LOL.
I really like how the page came out in the end. I find that I start a page and have an idea of how it is going to come out and then I wind up with something totally different. Sometimes accidents are good. Thanks for stopping by and everyone...have a great week!!!

Super Son layout

I hope everyone had a great Memorial day weekend. Over this great weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. I can't believe it, it's been 10 years!!! Anyway, here is a page that I was working on for over two weeks. Why couldn't I get this page together? Because I didn't care for the pictures...My husband really wanted them in the scrapbook. The pictures are of my son making believe he is taking off as superman. The second is of my father-in-law with my son. This is actually the last picture we got of him before he passed away unexpectedly a few weeks later. The third is a family shot and I don't like the picture of me at all and the last is a far away shot of my son at the park. Hopefully the next page wouldn't take me so long. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of the day. Hugs to all.
